Sous les pavés, la terre

Spring exhibition at Capellagården Arts and Crafts School 2025

Onggi inspired fermentation pot made from wild clay from Öland and Delft ware inspired porcelain cups.

An exploration of the contrast between the roughness and imperfect of the wild clay versus the rigid and cleanliness of porcelain.

The fermentation pot is decorated with different wild clay slips, crushed granite and ash glaze.
The porcelain cups are decorated with a runny cobalt wash.

The fabric you see is woven by Geneva Moreland using Capellagården’s own  linnen. The flax is grown in the garden of Capella, then harvested and processed by the textile students, made into workable linnen thread. The fabric is then died by Asagi using indigo, which is also grown on in the schoolgarden itself.
